Part-Time House Cleaning Jobs in Hanover and Gettysburg, PA

What the job actually pays, the hours we need, what the work involves, and what we don’t do — so you can decide before you apply.

Most cleaning job ads tell you almost nothing until you’re on the phone. Here’s the whole picture up front, so you can decide whether it’s worth your time before you apply.

The short version

  • $16 an hour to start, plus performance-based bonuses
  • 5–25 hours a week, growing as our client base grows
  • W-2 employee, not 1099. Taxes handled, paid every two weeks on Friday by direct deposit
  • 1–2 weeks of paid training alongside an experienced cleaner before you work on your own
  • We supply everything. Each cleaner is issued all the cleaning supplies they need, including a vacuum

The hours, stated plainly

This is where most applications fall apart, so we’ll be direct. Everything below is about house cleaning — homes, during the day. We also clean offices, and commercial work runs on completely different hours; ask us about it if that suits you better.

Monday through Friday only. No nights, no weekends.

You must be available weekday mornings and afternoons. A 9:00am start is required, and some clients prefer 8:00am. Ideal availability looks like 9–2, 8–5, or similar.

You choose which days, from one to five.

Where we’re hiring

We’ve been based in Hanover since 2009, and we’re hiring in two areas right now.

Gettysburg area

We’re building up our client base around Gettysburg, and we want a cleaner who lives in or near Gettysburg rather than someone driving out from Hanover every day. If that’s you, this is the one to apply for.

Hanover area

Hanover is our home base and most of our work is here. We keep this position open because the right person is worth making room for — if you’re local and you meet the availability above, apply whether or not we’ve advertised recently.

Either way, we keep your schedule as consistent as we can — for the most part the same homes, the same days, week after week. It won’t be perfect every week, but that is what we aim for: you learn the houses, the clients learn your name, and you’re not starting over every morning.

What the work actually is

Every visit covers four areas:

Dusting. Cobweb the ceiling corners, chair rail and baseboards, window sills and sash ledges, light fixtures and ceiling fans, everything hanging on the walls, electronics, desks, tables and shelves. Mirrors and glass streak-free.

Bathrooms. Spray down, disinfect and shine: the toilet top to bottom and front to back, the whole shower, tub and shower door, sink, vanity, countertop, faucet and drain, and the fixtures — soap dishes, towel bars, paper holders, waste cans.

Kitchens. Countertops, backsplash, table, major appliances, inside and outside of the microwave, small appliances, and every part of the sink, faucet and drain.

Floors. Vacuum all floors, rugs and stairs, move what can easily be moved, use the wand along edges and under what can’t be moved, then wet-mop the hard floors.

Plus trash, and the glass on the front, storm and patio doors.

What we don’t do

A real list, because it matters for what the job is physically:

  • No wall washing
  • No window cleaning
  • No carpet shampooing or steaming
  • No grout cleaning
  • No pet messes
  • No housekeeping — no dishes, laundry, bedding or ironing
  • No cleaning floors by hand on your hands and knees

What we need from you

  • Highly reliable attendance, and punctuality.
  • Strong attention to detail. We’re flexible on scheduling and not flexible on how well the work is done. Our standards are written down and we train you on them
  • The ability to work unsupervised. Most of the time it is one cleaner per home
  • Reliable transportation
  • The physical ability to dust, vacuum, mop, clean kitchens and baths, wipe baseboards, and carry a vacuum up and down stairs
  • Willingness to undergo a background check
  • A smartphone for our timeclock and schedule app

Why people stay

We’ve been family-run in Hanover since 2009 and we clean for more than 100 recurring clients. We have 21 cleaners, and several have been with us 7 to 10 years or more. That’s unusual in this industry, and it’s mostly down to three things: steady clients you know, a schedule that doesn’t change on you, and an owner who knows you and cares.
